Bx E 1443/7; Bx M 12416 Rosa Bonheur, famous for her paintings, was also distinguished by her sculptures, which she produced until the 1850s. Trained by her father and Léon Cogniet, she was particularly fond of domestic animals seen at fairs. Most of her sculptures were produced in bronze by the founder Hippolyte Peyrol (1856-1929), the husband of Juliette Bonheur, the artist's younger sister.
