LESPINASSE DE VILLIERS. Geometrical and detailed map of the part of the coast of Brittany which extends from St. Malo to Cape Frehel. 1760. Boundaries in old col. Nice copy on strong paper. Small brown spots. Tear on the left for 15 cm consolidated. 534 x 585 mm. Rare map representing the battle of Saint-Cast, engraved by Chalmandrier, printed by Jean-Baptiste Du Tertre, the letter by Le Roy le jeune. Scale of ten thousand toises. The colored map is dated 1760, 2 years after the battle of St. Cast. See the book Saint Cast official pieces 1858 by the Ste Archéologique et Historique des Côtes du Nord, session of Nov 6, 1760. Out of frame : 1° table of the distance to the meridian and to the perpendicular of St. Malo, towns, parishes, castles, windmills windmills . 2° references concerning the battle. The cartouche surmounted by the royal crown is the arms of France and Brittany supported by two greyhounds. It saw an attempted British landing repulsed thanks to Vauban's fortifications and the pugnacity of the inhabitants of the region.
