ANONYMOUS HANDWRITTEN CARD. Eveche de Léon en trois Archidiaconez. 1763. Col. of the time. Handwritten map on paper. Important losses in the lower corners. (approx. 9 x 4 cm), small lacks at the edge of the map. Surface rubbed with small tears. Paper creased in places and browned. Oxidized green colour that has turned brown. 470 x 765 mm. Handwritten map showing the bishopric of Leon. Title cartouche with the arms of Jean-François d'Andigné de La Chasse, bishop of Léon (1763 to 1772), blazon of silver with 3 eaglets gules (red) beaked and membered azure (blue) with the motto: Aquila non capit muscas. Legend under the title indicating the Cities, Towns, Parishes and Chapels. D'ANDIGNÉ DE LA CHASSE, Jean-François, born in Rennes on January 29, 1724, of an old family, a native of Anjou, chaplain of the queen, and great archdeacon, of Rouen, was consecrated bishop of Léon in the superior chapel of the archbishopric of Paris, on August 21, 1763, by M. de Beaumont, assisted by M. de Gouyon de Vaudarand and M. de of Vaudarand and of M. de La Muzanchère, bishop of Nantes. He governed this diocese for nine years.
