GOUYON, Miniac. Map of the Rade de Brest and its Environs 1723. (Handwritten map). 1723. Col. of the period. Pen, ink and watercolour wash (green, pink, red and yellow). Mounted on cardboard. Paper slightly yellowed. Good condition. 354 x 457 mm. Map of the roadstead of Brest. The author specified: guard of the admiral flag. Nice wind rose in the center of which is an upside down sailboat indicating the north. Important table placed between Brest and the title cartouche, giving a list of forty names (batteries, redoubts and a tower), thus avoiding to overload the map. § Copy reproduced in "Anciennes Cartes Marines de la Bretagne 1580-1800", Pl.
