Porcelain plate with polychrome decoration in famille rose enamels in the center of a coat of arms in a shield under a crown and surrounded by flags and cannons, the side decorated with lake landscapes in three reserves and Buddha's hands in red and gold.
18th century, Qianlong period (1735-1796).
D. 23 cm.
The coat of arms is attributed by Lunsingh Scheurleer to Christiaan Anthnoie Verhuell (1760-1832), a Dutch admiral. A plate from the same service is in the Amsterdam Rijksmuseum (Christian J.A. Jörg, Chinese Ceramics in the collection of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, 1997, p. 306-307). The author questions this attribution.
