Qita calligraphy, Ottoman Empire, probably Egypt, 19th century, signed 'Ali al-Masri. Cursive Arabic calligraphy in white ink on salmon paper, consisting of a horizontal line of large thuluth characters followed by a panel of nine oblique lines in naskhi script. The text is taken from Hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad, and the panel is illuminated with gouache and gold floral decoration. Framed under glass.
