Desny (Clément Nauny dit) (1900-1969) DESNY HOUSE - PARIS LEROY HEAD (goldsmith) Silver-plated metal vase with a quadrangular body and flat edges set in two small square-section stained-wood side grips. Signed and marked Made in France on reverse. Height 22 cm - Length 20 cm - Depth 9 cm History: a similar model was displayed in the entrance hall of Gabrielle Chanel's apartment at 31, rue Cambon in Paris. Today, it is listed as a historic monument (n°PM75004256) and kept by the Chanel Heritage Department. The Desny name originates from the contraction of the two surnames of its co-founders, Clément Nauny and a certain Desnet, who set up shop in 1927 at 122, avenue des Champs-Elysées in Paris. Numerous prestigious personalities were among Desny's customers, who collaborated with Robert Mallet-Stevens and Jean-Michel Frank to create original interiors, and with André Masson and Giacometti to design original pieces.
